LO2: Treatment

Name of the animation: Yuuna and Koro

Medium: The medium is 2D animation. I chose 2D animation as It can create animation using computer software that simulates traditional hand-drawn animation techniques but allows for more efficiency and flexibility.

Synopsis:

It is a story about a cat and a dog and their day at the park. When they first come to the park, they intend to relax and not do much. But when they arrive, things take a turn from meeting a bear and helping out a duck. They find a bear eating honey from a bee hive. Koro and Yuuna get scared and don't know what to do. The brown bear spots them and smiles. Koro and Yuuna are frozen, too afraid to give a smile back. But the bear explained to them that he was friendly, and they later hung out together until they arrived at a pond where they met up with a duck which looked rather upset. She tells them she lost her son somewhere in the park, so the others offer to help. They spend the rest of the day to look for him. It is a 2-minute long episode.

Running time: It will be about 2 minute long episode.

Target audience: The target audience are toddlers and children aged 3-6+. However anyone from all age groups can watch this, as this will be a feel good, heart warming story.

Purpose:

This animation aims to teach the audience not to judge a person's character based on appearance. It is also entertaining, with the plot revolving around Yuuna, Koro, and the bear finding the little duckling. It is to challenge stereotypes, prejudice, and snap judgments based on superficial appearances. This theme encourages my target demographic to look beyond outward appearances and consider individuals' or situations' true character. The story aims to promote empathy, understanding, and open-mindedness. It conveys the meaning of friendship and how we can resolve problems by working together fun and playfully and reinforces positive friendship-related behaviours, such as sharing, caring, and supporting each other. It teaches kids about diversity and inclusion, regardless of different backgrounds.

Characters:

Koro:

Koro is a Shiba. He stereotypically represents a dog, as children perceive it as playful and naughty. He gets Yuuna in trouble most of the time. Koro is a little childish and is there for laughs. He goes with the flow, not really following a specific plan.

Yuuna:

Yuuna is more mature and can keep Koro in line when he misbehaves. She is an overthinker and overanalyses everything, but this helps her think things through, which is an important quality.

Yuuna and Koro represent an unlikely friendship that teaches kids that you can be friends with anyone regardless of liking the same things or being the same way. Yuuna and Koro balance each other out perfectly. Koro helps with Yuuna's overthinking, while Yuuna helps Koro with going with the flow sometimes.

Brown:

Despite his extensive and imposing stature, Brown is a gentle giant. He exudes a calm demeanor, is patient and tender with his friends and loved ones, and is highly loyal and protective. He is a warm and affectionate creature who enjoys cuddling.

Mama Duck:

Mama Duck is a nurturing and protective mother. She is deeply devoted to her duckling, Waddles, and protects him from harm. She is determined and strong for her duckling. She is generous and selfless, often putting Waddle's needs before hers.

Waddles:

Waddles is a curious and inquisitive duckling full of energy. He loves to frolic in the water and play games. His curious nature gets him in trouble at times. He is vulnerable, often seeking his mother's support.

Settings:

The primary setting of the story is a park. The park's centerpiece is a picturesque lake, its waters shimmering in the sunlight. Spanning across the park's expanse, the lake is home to various aquatic life, including graceful swans, colourful koi fish, and playful ducks. Wooden boardwalks and stone pathways wind around the lake, providing scenic views and opportunities for leisurely strolls. The park is adorned with abundant flora, from towering oak trees and graceful blossom trees to vibrant flowerbeds bursting with colour.
